Information on application and admission procedures

This website contains key information on the application and admission process of the Master's programme in Applied Statistics. Here, we will take you step-by-step through the application process. Please read the following information carefully. Please also understand that we cannot accept incomplete applications, or applications that are not submitted by the deadline.

  Admission to the Master’s programme in Applied Statistics is competitive. Admission into the programme is based on proof of relevance of previous studies.

  
  
  

  Proof of relevance of previous studies

  
  

  
  
  • A minimum of six semesters of study culminating in a bachelor’s degree or an equivalent course of study with a minimum of 180 ECTS credits in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Sciences, Economics, Agricultural Economics or a closely related discipline (e.g. empirical Social Sciences and Psychology).
  
  
  • Applicants must have completed at least 150 of the 180 ECTS credits at the time of application. Unfortunately, we cannot consider applications that do not meet this requirement.

    Completed 60 ECTS credits and course work in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Sciences, or another quantitative subject
    
    
    
    • including 24 ECTS credits in Statistics, and
    
    
    • a minimum of 12 ECTS from the modules must be from coursework that is of intermediate or advanced levels.

  • If you have not completed your degree at the time of application, the current average score will be calculated.
  
  
  • For courses to be considered intermediate or advanced, the course content must clearly go beyond introductory or basic concepts.
  
  
  • Determining the relevance of previous studies for the MSc in Applied Statistics programme will be based on the documents enclosed in the application (see: "Required application documents").
  
  

  
  

  The selection process is a two-stage process. The initial selection round will evaluate candidates based on their written application. The second round will evaluate candidates based on personal interviews.   • Application window for citizens from the EU/EEA (European Economic Area) OR applicants with a bachelor’s degree from an EU/EEA country beginning in the winter semester: 1 April to 15 May of the same calendar year (until 23:59 UTC+2)

Come and meet us and register for the Responsible Innovation event on 11 June 2026!

At our annual “Responsible Innovation Summit”, we explore the topic of corporate innovation capacity from various perspectives and address the relevant issues. Our professors organise the lectures and workshops together with company representatives, who have usually also studied at the Faculty of Business and Economics. They present current topics from their professional lives.The conference will be held in German.

Prospective students and current applicants to our Bachelor’s and Master’s programmes are also warmly invited to attend the Responsible Innovation Summit (RIS): get to know the Faculty and gain an initial insight into our research and teaching content, as well as into the corporate and professional lives of our former students (alumni)!

You can take part in the RIS programme free of charge, and we are also offering an information session on our degree programmes in the morning. Please register online using the registration form (in German). We look forward to seeing you!

Application Process

The application will be completely digital. If requested, you are obliged to submit original documents subsequently. The application process consists of seven steps:

1. Create an account on our Master’s application portal and log in using your login data.


2. Fill in your personal application profile.


3. Start the application process for the Master’s programme in Applied Statistics.


4. Enter all the required information in the portal.


5. Upload all the necessary documents to the portal.


6. Submit your application. Once submitted, changes to the information entered or the documents uploaded can only be made if you reset your application and start again.


7. Once the selection procedure is completed, you will receive a reply via email regarding your application. You can expect this possibly six weeks after the end of the application deadline.

Please check your application materials for completeness before clicking on “Binding Submission” in our Master’s application portal. Unfortunately, incomplete applications, or those sent after the deadline will not be considered
