Target group
The main target group of GOMIL is junior researchers, lawyers and judges wishing to specialize in the area of international law beyond the scope usually covered in undergraduate legal studies. Additionally, the program is open to graduates of other related disciplines, e.g. international relations or political science. As a result, program participants can benefit from exchanging opinions, engaging in group projects and other forms of cooperation with classmates from other fields, which helps them to better understand different angles and perspectives of the topics they study.
Besides the variety of academic and professional backgrounds, we also strive to achieve diverse geographic representation in the selection of each year's program participants. Such diversity enriches classroom discussions and collaborative activities by ensuring the exchange and application of ideas and approaches from various legal systems and cultural environments.
Career paths
A degree from the GOMIL program opens a wide range of professional opportunities in both the public and private sectors. By combining theoretical foundations with practical case studies, the program prepares graduates to navigate the complexities of global legal standards.

International organizations and NGOs
Graduates are well-equipped to work with intergovernmental bodies and non-governmental organizations. Your expertise is highly valued in roles such as:
Legal advisor working for organizations like the UN or OECD;
Human rights advocate with NGOs like Amnesty International or Human Rights Watch, focusing on global justice;
Working for specialized agencies in environmental protection, refugee support or trade relations.

Law firms and corporate counsel
For those aiming for the private sector, GOMIL provides a competitive edge in the global legal market.
You may work as an associate in international law firms specializing in international commercial arbitration, trade disputes, or cross-border transactions.
As in-house counsel you may advise multinational corporations on international compliance, regulatory standards, and investment law.

Governmental agencies and diplomacy
The program is an ideal stepping stone for careers within national governments that interface with the international community.
This includes working as a diplomat or legal attaché in foreign ministries or embassies.
You may also be advising national ministries on the implementation of international treaties.

Academia
GOMIL serves as a strong foundation for those wishing to pursue further scholarly excellence.
The program trains and guides you to pursue a PhD due to the program's academic focus and the supervision during the Master's thesis.
This provides the basis for roles as researchers or lecturers at universities and international research centers.
