Major Research Interests
Development, activation, and differentiation of B lymphocytes, which provide adaptive humoral immunity by the production of antigen-specific antibodies, are strictly controlled by signals that are transduced by the B cell antigen receptor (BCR). Aberrant signal transduction can cause immunodeficiency, autoimmunity, or B cell neoplasia. We study details of BCR signal regulation that ensure survival of B cells and correct B cell responses. This includes the organisation of multi protein complexes that undergo phase separation, and their translocation towards the BCR.
Moreover, we aim at identifying dysregulated BCR processes that cause survival of Burkitt Lymphoma B cells, and characterized how inositol phosphatases control energy metabolism, which is mandatory for such an aggressively proliferating neoplasia.
