Education with a focus on Digital Educational Media

Critical mediality research into (primarily digital) educational media lies at the core of this department. This research explores the spaces of opportunity that educational media can open up in terms of content, practices and subject positions and how these are filled and appropriated within educational practice. It also analyses the respective school and media cultures alongside socio-political contexts.
The department utilises concepts from educational studies and media studies. The projects primarily use qualitative methods, in order to develop case studies that are designed to reveal the complex interactions between materialities, knowledge and practice, content, and subject positions, and to contextualise them in terms of media and cultural theories as well as (educational) policy.
The majority of the research in this department is conducted within the Media Transformation department at the Leibniz Institute for Educational Media| Georg-Eckert-Institute in Braunschweig
